Pages:24

Who They’re For: Language Learners & Teachers, Developing Readers of English, Card-Players.

Why You Need Them: For each of the 26 letters of the English/Roman alphabet, 104 of these Alphabet-Letter Cards display alphabetic symbols in clear large fonts, including pictures of vocabulary that starts with each letter. Their reverse sides reveal which kinds of letters (block or cursive, upper– or lower-case) are on their faces.

What You’ll Do:

  1. From Alphabet-Letter Cards AaAa-ZzZz, Version 5, extract the 6 pages 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 to print out one-sided. Or download all 12 pages to print out back-to-back, flipped horizontally on long edges.

  2. Cut apart the 108 letters + 2 informational cards so that they’re all of equal size and shape.

  3. Use the cards for instructional activities as suggested—or invent procedures that take advantage of their dual-purpose faces, which show both alphabet letters + traditional card images.

  4. Follow (and/or vary) instructions for card competitions proven engaging and successful in developing critical thinking and strategic learning + game-play skills.

  5. Expand on the linguistic knowledge and game skills participants are building in other creative and impelling ways.
