104 Body Language A to Z Cards of Facial Expressions, Body Movements, & Gestures—Printed on 12 Nine-to-a-Page Two-Sided Sheets—to Cut Apart

24 pages of Nine Cards Each

Who It’s For: Pre- & Rank-Beginning Learners & Helpers Encouraged by Non-Verbal Representations of Meaning; Also, Language Students / Teachers Wanting to Comprehend & Use Linguistic Cues

Why It’s Useful: Especially if they lack linguistic confidence, English learners may  appreciate “lessons” augmented by photographic visuals—as well as physical looks, motions, and signals that elucidate meaning.  Also, it’s fun to associate words with “non-verbal signals”—Movements, Gestures, Facial Expressions.  Here are the 104 full-sized A-M & N-Z Card Decks described in E-00.01a Meanings of Body Language: Ideas & Materials for Teaching & Learning Non-Verbal Communication.  After the captioned images are printed out and cut apart—or even onscreen, they’ll have many enjoyable, (pedagogic) uses.

What You’ll Do:

[1] Download the 24 colorful Image + Wording pages of E-00.1b. For double-sided Cards, print them out back-to-back, flipped horizontally; if one-sided Cards will suffice, print out only odd-numbered pages.  Notice that the visuals and their captions correspond in sets of four to emotions or other abstractions in alphabetical order: Anger, Boredom, Craziness, Drama, Embarrassment, Fun/Joking, Greeting, Hello, Impatience, Joy, Kids (Gestures for), Listening/Loudness, Money; Negatives, Offensiveness, Praise (Self), Questioning, Religion/Prayer, Surprise/Shock, Threat, Unhappiness, Victory/Winning, Worry, X = Kiss, Yes! and Zzzz = Sleepiness.

[2]  From the two Explanation / Instructions Cards in each Card Deck A-M & N-Z, as well as suggestions in the corresponding E-00.01a How-to Book, make optimal  (educational and/or recreational) use of the images, explanations, and meanings.

[3] Go well beyond the offered materials in your inclusion of (interpretations of) Body Language in Oral Language Skills Instruction, Activities, & Assessment.
