Reading (aloud) the “Good Old Days” Scenario, participants will get used to varying their verb phrasing in talking / writing about the past.  They’ll continue to build ability with Sentence-Structure (Statement, Question, & Answer) Tables & Grammar Notes; Comprehension & Practice Exercises; antique photos and anachronistic cartoonsand Dialogs + Speeches to complete.  The chapter ends with authentic pictorial cues referencing life in past decades of the 20th & 21st Centuries.

What You’ll Do: 

[1] Paying attention to the variety of verb phrases used to indicate the past time frame,  read (aloud) the pages 59-60 simulated exchange between generations.  Complete Comprehension Checks 3-A, 3-B, 3-C.  If you’re into the study of past life styles,  start thinking which eras you might want to research or become “expert” in. 

[2]  As you come to each Chart, review its Grammar + Vocabulary: “Past Continuous Sentences,” “Simple-Past Statements, Tag-Questions, Who & What Questions,”  “Irregular Simple-Past Verb Forms,” Simple-Past Questions & Answers,” “More Past-Time Verb Forms: Would / Use(d) to + Verb; Future in the Past,” “Uses of Verb-Tense Forms in the Past-Time Frame.” Referring to this pedagogy when needed, complete the sections in between: Exercises 3-D to *3-L, on pages 62 to 82. When possible, add meaningful items and useful commentary to each segment. 

[3] To continue the chapter in your future, comment on what you perceive in the areas of life depicted in the 20th & 21st Century photos: Death & Poverty; Family at Home; Politics, Power, & Wars; Struggles & Movements; Collapses, Technology, & Science. Finally, do what you can with given groups of “Question Cues” + your own thoughts and ideas. Hopefully, you and others will be able to transform what we’ve seen of or learned about the history of humanity into a more viable future.
