Helpful to: Instructors + Tutors of Secondary Students, Young Adults, Adults. Also for independent learners.
What It Is: The Instructor's Manual for the WLE Level 5 Competency-Based Reading/Writing Book is a 42-page supplement for those who are preparing to help themselves and others to read authentic text at a relatively high level. The book includes an inbound copy of the 134 page student text it refers to. In accordance with its level 5 theme, “Language & Culture in Depth,” its ten (10) Chapter titles are the same as in the student book.
Why You Need It: Whether you're teaching a class or learning on your own, you need your own copy of the material you're targeting. Also, having teaching tips and techniques, exercise answers, and supplemental material at hand can be reassuring--and save time and trouble.
What It Does: The extra instructors' section at the end of the manual begins with suggested ways to optimize presentation and practice of various kinds of text sections. It's followed by an Answer Key for all text exercises. And if your program requires assessment of learning progress--or even for your own purposes, the reproducible Progress Tests will save you the trouble of preparing your own.
