Parts One to Four of Chapter 1 (“Things”) of WorkLife English: Life Skills: Workbook 1, Pages 9-21
Who It’s For: (Teachers & Helpers of) Novice Learners of English
Why It’s Useful: Even before putting together sentences with be, teachers and learners will be naming—and perhaps counting, describing, asking for, or writing down names of one or more things. The use of full sentences with verbs (is, are, and others) will emerge as needed.
What You’ll Do:
Hear and read strip stories with names and numbers of necessary familiar things in natural settings (stores, classrooms).
Speaking naturally, Identify things in context by their (correctly spelled) names, numbers, adjectives, locations, and prepositional phrases.
