What You’ll Do: 

[1] For each of 3 Categories of Meaning (Things We Use, Foods, Clothing & Body Parts), complete 3 kinds of letter– or word-recognition puzzles by filling in spaces or drawing lines: Color Codes, Hidden Pictures, Maze Words.   “Discover” the visual solution to each puzzle with the spelling of its vocabulary word.  

[2] Do 4 kinds of more “traditional” puzzles (Word Search, Crossword, Rebus, Scrambled Words) by circling, printing, and (sometimes) arranging letters that spell words in the same categories.                                 

[3] Compare your solutions with those in the Answer Key.  

[4] Use new vocabulary in related language lessons and activities. Learn other useful words from the same work/life subject areas. Do other word puzzles of comparable—or different—types or styles.
