What You’ll Do: 

[1] Together, view and comment on the page 111 Part Three Opener to Before Speaking: Activities for Practice & Preparation in Oral Language SkillsAnticipate its content (“Talk About People”) and the Competencies it addresses: Describe People, Tell About People’s Lives, Get to Know Individuals. Tell what (you think) Listening & Speaking pedagogy and activities with these aims might entail. Describe its photos.

[2]  On pages 112-115. follow Instructions 7.A with Adjectives that Describe Faces.  On pages 116-120, in 7.B & 7.C characterize Facial Expressions, Feelings, & Body Language.  (Re)View Adjectives of Nationality, Job Titles, & Verbs for Work Duties.  Use these and your own words to describe individuals, pairs, and groups in Section 7-D of photos on pages 123-127. Differentiate among the visuals by telling how people look, what you think they are, what they probably do and are doing in those scenes.  

[3]  Peruse Summary Vocabulary Lists, noting the functions of varius kinds of words and phrases.  In ***7-E on page 130, participants get to demonstrate whether they’re “Ready for Speaking” by preparing, giving, and responding to Mini-Speeches about notable people in their lives.  The attached 26 Answer Key pages are likely help with grammar, phrasing, and vocabulary. They even reveal “the truth” about the people in the Part 2-7 photos.
