Who It’s For:(Teachers & Helpers of) (High) Beginning Learners
Why It’s Useful: In “the olden days,” each Unit of a serious grammar text started out with a Presentation of relevant Examples in Context, with a Comprehension Check. After each Grammar Explanation came a brief, invented exercise—and perhaps a more “relevant-to-now” one. Progressing from controlled to expressive, exercises that compared and summarized previous grammar points followed. The Unit ended with actual exchange of info and thoughts incorporating the structures and patterns that had just been taught/learned. And that’s precisely what’s offered here, all in service of “Statements with Be.
What You’ll Do:
[1] By listening and/or reading, take in the typical patterns of each segment of the Scenario. Show that you understand.
[2] Relying on the pedagogy, complete relevant exercises as directed. Check your answers to make sure you “got it.”
[3] Participate in real-life activities that require and help you to understand and read, say and complete/write language with the targeted grammar.
